Endless Days, Sleepless Nights

Endless Days, Sleepless Nights: David Allen, Mat Hurtado, Daniel Maidman

Grand opening and inaugural exhibition – Nov. 15, 6 – 9 p.m.

Endless Days, Sleepless Nights is the inaugural exhibition at Sidetracked Studio opening on Sat., Nov. 15, 2014 from 6 – 9 p.m. and featuring work by David Allen, Mat Hurtado, and drawings by Daniel Maidman.

“We are thrilled to have these three artists at Sidetracked, I’ve wanted to work with them for a while and it’s great to finally have the opportunity,” said Rory Coyne, co-founder of Sidetracked Studio.

David Allen is an artist who also works as a tattooer in Chicago at Pioneer Studios. He began painting seriously after studying with Alex Kanevsky at his studio at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. His tattooing method is extraordinary and is earning him a long waiting list and much deserved attention.

Mathew Hurtado is also an artist who works in tattooing. Based in Los Angeles, Hurtado works at Black Anchor Collective and specializes in various levels of photo realism in both his art and tattooing.

Daniel Maidman is a painter and prolific author whose writing appears in ARTnews, Juxtapoz, Hyperallergic and routinely on his Huffington Post blog. His paintings deal with a host of subjects and styles from the human to machinery, realism to abstraction. His works are found in many private collections including that of Jerry Saltz, Howard Tullman, and more. He is represented by Dacia Gallery in Manhattan.

  1. So glad to have discovered your gallery and blog. I am an Evanston artist with a studio in Rogers Park (Greenleaf Art Center). There are other Evanston artists there also. I wish you the best with your gallery and look forward to following your blog. The Greenleaf Art Center hosts two open studios/year — May and October. Feel free to stop by if you’re interested. My studio is #18.
